Chanderi:
The name Chanderi saree was originated from the historically important town Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh. Do you know according to mythology, this town was founded by Chedi Raj Sishupala of Mahabharata. Something clicking in the memory? I won’t remind you of the story though, go and brush up your knowledge of our epic.
Anyway, coming back to the Chanderi saree-three kinds of fabrics are used-silk, cotton or silk-cotton and different distinct motifs are ovens into the chosen fabrics. These sarees are distinguished by gold or silver zari at the border.
